Featured Outcomes
  • In just three weeks, obtained comprehensive COVID-19 immunization data for more than 28K employees, 6K associated and employed physicians, and all contracted services.
  • Confirmation of COVID-19 immunization (or accommodation) for the entire Allina Health workforce.
  • $50K indirect labor cost savings, the result of integrating and automating COVID-19 immunization data.

THE CHALLENGE

Allina Health sought to effectively track and manage COVID-19 immunization for its sizeable workforce. The organization needed to confirm the immunization status for its more than 28,000 employees, 6,000 associated and employed physicians, and its on-site contracted services. A challenging endeavor, as some employees were vaccinated at Allina Health while others were vaccinated elsewhere, limiting both the organization’s insight into vaccination status for the entire workforce and the ability to plan for the continuation of hospital and clinic operations.

THE PROJECT

Allina Health leveraged the Health Catalyst® Data Operating System (DOS™) platform and a robust suite of analytics applications to develop a COVID-19 immunization registry. The organization started with visualizing employee immunization status for employees who received COVID-19 vaccinations from Allina Health and those who had received an accommodation. Allina Health then collaborated with the Minnesota Department of Health to integrate State vaccination data, ensuring comprehensive data and reporting.

THE RESULT

Using DOS, Allina Health gained access to COVID-19 immunization for its entire workforce. The organization visualized immunization rates in aggregate and by department, enabling it to identify, understand, and intervene to address potential gaps in immunization rates and ensure the organization could continue providing critical services to the patients who rely upon Allina Health for their care needs.

“Ready access to vaccination rate data allowed us to develop contingency plans to continue critical hospital and clinic operations.”
