KPI Ninja by Health Catalyst™, a leading provider of data and analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations, has earned HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year (r2) Certified status for information security. KPI Ninja is an end-to-end solution for processing event-driven data that enables Health Information Exchanges to build and customize new services, clinical solutions, and operational tools around their core care systems, without the major refactoring and processing typically required of these systems.

Earning an r2 Certification puts KPI Ninja in an elite group at the forefront of industry best practices for information risk management and compliance. The certification ensures KPI Ninja meets key compliance requirements included across a wide range of industry standards and frameworks, as well as federal and state regulations.

“We’re honored that KPI Ninja has received HITRUST Certification,” said Vijay Musunuru, Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer at KPI Ninja. “It’s encouraging to receive this recognition for our efforts to ensure data is ready to power insights at every step of the decision-making process, supporting faster results and greater cost efficiencies for our clients and partners.”

Incorporating a widely accepted risk-based approach, the HITRUST Assurance Program will help KPI Ninja users address security and data protection challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.

“The HITRUST Assurance Program is the most rigorous available, consisting of a multitude of quality assurance checks, both automated and manual,” said Bimal Sheth, Executive Vice President, Standards Development & Assurance Operations, HITRUST. “The fact that KPI Ninja has achieved HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year Certification attests to the high quality of their information risk management and compliance program.”

Data-informed knowledge and decision making is a core component of how Health Catalyst is driving massive, measurable, data-informed healthcare improvement. KPI Ninja is capable of ingesting, aggregating, and analyzing varied data sources from inside and outside the hospitals, ambulatory systems, and payers, to name a few. It supplies insights that multiple healthcare stakeholders can then incorporate into their decisions. And the security of such a treasure trove of data is vital.

“We have an unwavering commitment to deliver the highest level of information security and data privacy to our clients,” said Kevin Scharnhorst, Chief Information Security Officer at Health Catalyst, “HITRUST r2 Certification is recognized as the industry gold standard for safeguarding sensitive information and managing information risk across organizations and through third-party supply chains. It provides the industry’s highest levels of assurance to current and potential partners.”

Protecting information security while simultaneously speeding up analytics integration between core systems and third-party supplier systems can help providers transform healthcare by improving the quality of care they deliver to their patients. Three additional Health Catalyst systems—the Data Operating System (DOS™) platform, Health Catalyst Interoperability (HCI) product suite, and Healthfinch—earned CSF HITRUST Certification in October 2020. Health Catalyst is committed to continuously pursuing the highest information assurances for its partners.
