Becky Vea, Health Catalyst’s Associate Chief People Officer, Recognized by Utah Business as an HR Achievement Awardee
Having served nearly a decade at Health Catalyst, Becky Vea, Health Catalyst’s Associate Chief People Officer, has played a pivotal role on the People Operations team, overseeing benefits, compensation, and business partner functions. While her career didn’t begin in HR, her natural problem-solving skills, empathy, and passion for people led her to a field where she could make a lasting impact.
Under her leadership, the company has consistently enhanced its offerings, introducing new benefits each year while maintaining cost-effectiveness. From pay parity initiatives to addressing gaps in traditional healthcare coverage, Vea has helped ensure that Health Catalyst remains a leader in employee well-being.
In recognition of the remarkable contributions she has made at Health Catalyst, Vea is being recognized by the greater community for her work. Vea was recently honored by Utah Business as an HR Achievement Award recipient. This recognition is reserved for outstanding HR professionals who shape workplace culture, foster growth, and ensure employees thrive.
One way Health Catalyst fosters employee well-being and helps team members thrive is by offering a flexible schedule and embracing a remote-first work culture. Vea takes pride in Health Catalyst’s remote-first culture, which sets the company apart from others. While a growing number of organizations push for office returns, Health Catalyst remains steadfast in its commitment to flexibility and work-life balance.
One of Vea’s most enduring marks has been supporting the development of a benefits package that mirrors the company's commitment to its people. True to Health Catalyst’s cultural attributes of humility and improvement, Vea thoughtfully gathers feedback from stakeholders, recognizing the wisdom in collaborative decision-making before implementing organizational changes.
“We created a benefits committee with cross-functional senior leaders who review our benefit changes every year before we roll them out,” Vea said. “It’s not very traditional to have executives outside of HR get an overview of potential new benefits and help inform our decisions. This diverse perspective not only better represents our workforce but also enables us to ensure we were making good decisions beyond our myopic scope of HR experience. It’s been a fun journey, and I’ve learned a lot from what they have offered by way of advice, questions, and feedback.”
Most recently, Health Catalyst added Spot Pet Health Insurance to its team member benefits, adding to a package that includes flexible PTO, company-paid life and disability insurance, fitness and home office reimbursements, online company-sponsored counseling and physical therapy, and education assistance of up to $10,000 annually.
What’s more, Vea and her team continuously evaluate benefits and workplace initiatives through employee feedback and market analysis, ensuring that Health Catalyst remains competitive in the ever-evolving healthcare industry. Initiatives like the company’s mentorship program foster long-term professional growth, while company-wide transparency efforts, such as“Ask Leaders Anything” submissions, help maintain open communication and trust.
Even amid industry shifts, Health Catalyst continues to put its team members first. Vea emphasizes that leadership remains committed to compensation goals, above-market pay, and handling difficult decisions with empathy. “Even in challenging times, we hope employees walk away knowing they are cared for and respected,” she said.
As an HR leader, Vea believes that great cultures are built from the top down. Through her leadership, Health Catalyst continues to foster a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow.
