Oncology Patient-Reported Outcomes Software

The Carevive Oncology suite combines EHR data, electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs), and evidence-based guidelines in a single solution that supports capture and sharing of patient data and delivers timely clinical insight and support. Powered by an algorithm-based engine, the suite’s combined data enriches our cancer care management and patient engagement solutions to improve patient outcomes, reduce avoidable care utilization, and increase revenue.

The suite includes two applications: Carevive Oncology Clinical, a data-driven care and analytics application for clinicians, and its interfacing Carevive PROmpt®, a mobile application for patients.

The Carevive Oncology Clinical application provides clinicians with ePRO and clinical data displays for the management of patients throughout their cancer care continuum. In addition, it provides administrators and business analysts population-level data to effectively understand and respond to the patient reports and staff responses. The Clinical application includes these tools:

  • Treatment and ePRO Dashboard: Displays ePRO and other health questions from patients as text, data points, overall status indicators, and interactive longitudinal graphs to support care and clinical decision making throughout the experience of a cancer patient—including post treatment. Integrates clinical data such as diagnosis, staging, biomarkers, surgeries, and medications to support patient treatment.
  • Remote Symptom Monitoring and Management: Triggers symptom and health alerts from practice-set thresholds for proactive management and response to elevated symptoms as patients report them.
  • Treatment Planning Support: Elicits patient preferences, clinical trial interest, and physical/psychosocial issues—as well as quantifies risk to optimize treatment decisions. The tool also creates, edits, documents, and delivers Education Care Plans to patients.
  • Survey questions and ePRO assignments: Assigns predefined and validated ePRO surveys to patients both automatically and ad hoc.
  • Carevive STAIRS™: Provides computerized cancer symptom management pathways that support standardized, comprehensive assessment of a variety of cancer symptoms. These pathways increase the care team’s visibility into potential clinical problems and provide appropriate guideline-based recommendations to reduce or prevent treatment holds, treatment discontinuations, and hospitalizations.
  • Embedded EHR Integration: Embeds alerts and ePROs within Cerner and integrates with other industry-leading electronic health records (EHR) and clinical information systems.

Carevive PROmpt® is a mobile application that enables patients to interact directly with their care teams. PROmpt includes these tools:

  • Education Care Plans: View personalized treatment, symptoms, and survivorship education plans in an interactive, digestible format with content sourced from national and international guidelines, FDA-approved drug information, and peer-reviewed literature. The rules engine factors available clinical and ePRO data for auto-personalized content.
  • Surveys/Question Sets: Receive and complete regular health and ePRO-centric surveys directly in the application.
  • Treatment Info: View ePRO symptoms over time, educational documents, treatment plans, and diagnosis and treatment details.

The Challenge

Limited Symptom Visibility Impacts Oncology Outcomes and Costs

Health systems that have acquired ambulatory care practices—and independent ambulatory practices alike—face tremendous financial pressures and challenges to financial sustainability. If you’re an ambulatory care leader, you’re looking to improve the efficiency of the services you provide and find cost savings without negatively impacting patient outcomes, the community, or the integrity of the organization. Yet it can be difficult to access data that brings actionable insights to inform decisions to improve patient access, panel management, provider productivity, referral management, or quality scores.

Our Approach

Integrated ePRO Monitoring and Evidence-Based Oncology Guidance

The rules engine factors available clinical and ePRO data for auto-personalized content.

    • CAR-T and bispecifics post treatment remote monitoring for CRS and ICANS
    • Weekly care symptom check with PRO-CTCAE measures
  • Treatment Info: View ePRO symptoms over time, educational documents, treatment plans, and diagnosis and treatment details.

Benefits

Remote Symptom Monitoring, Treatment Planning Support, and EHR Integration

  • Facilitates patient-care team communication. Patients share the details of their health experiences with the care team member. The care team uses the insights and context of patient-reported data to intervene early, provide holistic support, and map resources to needs for improved patient outcomes in a variety of important cancer health domains.
  • Improves patient experience. Patients receive accurate, up-to-date symptom management education at the right time (immediately) at the right place (in their homes). Patients can track their symptoms over time, driving patient engagement in their care.
  • Empowers the care team. Providing front-line touchpoints in the platform itself, care team members can measure, organize, and prioritize their patient groups' information to address acuity, minimize risk, and sequence workflows with a safer, more resource-conscious approach to patient reports.
  • Drives health equity. PROmpt is available in Spanish, improving health equity by removing language as a barrier to the collection of critical patient data and communication between cancer patients and their care teams.
