CliniSync: OHIP Benefits with Clinical Data Exchange Capabilities
The Ohio Health Information Partnership (the Partnership) is an industry-leading nonprofit entity that has developed one of the two health information exchanges (HIEs) in Ohio. The organization seeks to help providers take advantage of national initiatives – such as Healtheway and DirectTrust – that encourage and facilitate the sharing of data to both improve outcomes and manage health care costs.
Branded as CliniSync, the HIE, powered by Medicity, has contracted with 141 hospitals and their employed physicians throughout 77 of Ohio’s 88 counties. More than 2,000 independent physicians are also participating in the network, and that number continues to rise.
Thanks in large part to this participation, approximately 87 percent of Ohio’s 11.5 million residents can now benefit from a clinical data exchange program. This widespread adoption is especially beneficial during the coordination and management of care transitions, one of the most critical periods in the continuum of care.
