Scott Holbrook Joins Health Catalyst as Strategic Advisor

SALT LAKE CITY, July 11, 2013Health Catalyst, the leader in healthcare data warehousing and analytics, today announced the appointment of Scott Holbrook as Strategic Advisor with a focus on helping the company to educate the market about Health Catalyst’s products and solutions.

A prominent figure in the healthcare information technology industry, Holbrook brings 40 years of experience to Health Catalyst, including co-founding KLAS, one of the industry’s most respected research firms, and leading the growth of some of the most influential health IT vendors and healthcare provider organizations.

From  1977 through the late 1980s, as the first corporate IT employee of Intermountain Healthcare, Holbrook helped build the health system’s reputation as one of the nation’s most efficient care providers, leading the Medseries4 multi-hospital business that is now owned by Siemens. In the 1990s, Holbrook led the laboratory division of Sunquest Information Systems, Inc, a leader in medical diagnostic technology.  As Sunquest expanded as the EVP he ran all sales, marketing, contract management, product management and business development activities.  Scott help Sunquest set the standard for customer service in the healthcare IT industry and helped to grow the company’s customer base from 230 hospitals to over 1,000. In 1998, Holbrook co-founded a small research firm, KLAS, that has since become the health IT industry’s most respected source of unbiased vendor performance ratings.

Most recently, Holbrook served as executive vice president of Medicity, a health information exchange pioneer that is now part of Aetna, where he was responsible for all customer experiences.

In addition to his other roles, Holbrook has held multiple elected leadership positions in the industry’s largest trade association, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), where he just completed his term as vice chair of the board of directors.  He served 3 years on the HIMSS Analytics Board, 4 years on the HIMSS Board, 2 years as chair of the HIMSS financial committee, 1 year as the chair of the HIMSS Nominating committee, and a member of other HIMSS committees.

Scott Holbrook serves on 3 private Healthcare IT companies board of directors. With 9 children, Scott has been active in his community as a coach and supporter of athletics and dance.  He is also very active in his church assignments.

Holbrook holds a Bachelor of Science in zoology from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in nutrition from Utah State University.
