Health Catalyst Chief People Officer Recognized by Utah Business Magazine as CXO of the Year

SALT LAKE CITY – June 22, 2017Health Catalyst®, a leader in healthcare data analytics, decision support and outcomes improvement, today congratulated Chief People Officer Jeff Selander on being named a “CXO of the Year” by Utah Business magazine.

In its June 2017 cover story, the magazine praised the award winners as “the chief officers who combine subject matter expertise with a leadership philosophy that lifts up those around them.” Among several hundred nominees, winners were selected for their contributions to the Utah business community, for their professional accomplishments, and for giving back to the community. Selander will accept the award today in a ceremony at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.

“We congratulate Jeff on this well-deserved honor,” said Dan Burton, CEO of Health Catalyst. “Health Catalyst is a desirable workplace, in no small part due to Jeff’s leadership and focus on culture, engagement and mission. We’re lucky to have him on our team.”

During Selander’s tenure, Health Catalyst has grown to over 500 team members, adding over 100 new team members per year.  Yet despite that steep growth rate, the company has nurtured an exceptional culture, earning 26 national and regional workplace awards in the last two years, including “Best Place to Work” awards from Forbes, Fortune, Inc., Entrepreneur, Gallup, Glassdoor, Modern Healthcare, the Salt Lake Tribune and Utah Business.

Selander’s carreer has tracked an unusual arc. He was originally Health Catalyst’s Chief Financial Officer, but chose to leave the CFO role to lead human resources in 2015, reflecting Health Catalyst’s determination to become a public, independent company and a valued employer in Utah for years to come. Selander believed that, to achieve that goal, the company would need to develop a successful culture and exceptional workforce. He determined to bring the discipline, accountability and ROI-focus of finance to the HR function.

His success in that effort has helped to nurture the next generation of business leaders in the Utah business community.

“I am deeply grateful to Utah Business for this honor, which belongs as much to the great team members of Health Catalyst as to the role I play,” said Selander. “After managing Health Catalyst’s financial liabilities and assets for many years, I know how effective and how deeply valuable an asset our workforce can be when we cultivate and strengthen team members’ engagement in our mission and commitment to excellence.”

Prior to joining Health Catalyst, Jeff was CFO at a private equity firm and a life sciences start-up, and a senior financial executive at an Internet service provider. He holds an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College in Boston, and a BA in international relations from BYU.
