Industry Thought Leader and Veteran Healthcare CIO Joins Executives of Sequoia-Backed Health Catalyst in its Efforts to Accelerate Care Improvement
Health Catalyst, the leader in healthcare data warehousing, today announced the appointment of Dale Sanders as a Senior Vice President. Mr. Sanders brings more than 28 years of experience leading IT organizations and initiatives, 14 of which are in healthcare.
Mr. Sanders will play a number of strategic roles including developing new products and providing thought leadership for Health Catalyst customers and prospects.
“We feel very fortunate that Dale is joining the team,” remarked Health Catalyst Chief Executive Officer, Dr. David Burton. “Dale is a disruptive and visionary healthcare IT leader, and his twenty-eight years of experience in data warehousing combined with his experience as a hands-on healthcare CIO will be invaluable to Health Catalyst clients.”
Frequently introduced as the leading authority on healthcare data warehousing and business intelligence in the United States, Mr. Sanders has a long history of success leading clinical IT efforts to improve care. In addition to his role at Health Catalyst, Mr. Sanders will continue serving as the Senior Technology Advisor and Chief Information officer (CIO) for the National Health System in the Cayman Islands. He also served as a CIO with the Northwestern University Medical Center and Regional Director of Medical Informatics at Intermountain Healthcare.
Previously, he served as CIO for the Northwestern University Medical Faculty Foundation, and chief architect of Northwestern’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). Prior to his tenure at Northwestern, Sanders was employed by Intermountain Healthcare for nearly a decade where he served in a number of capacities including chief architect of Intermountain’s EDW, and as Regional Director of Medical Informatics.
“I was attracted to healthcare by the opportunities I saw for analytics and decision support—where I might make a big impact in improving our country’s healthcare through data-driven analysis of quality, evidence and cost,” stated Mr. Sanders. “Fundamental to that effort are data warehousing and business intelligence tools, combined with organizational alignment. Health Catalyst has it figured out, at a time when the need has never been greater and the market forces have never been better aligned to finally realize dramatic improvements in healthcare. I wouldn’t be joining if I didn’t believe with 100% certainty that Health Catalyst offers an ideal solution at the perfect time in healthcare. I’m incredibly excited and honored to be part of the team that Health Catalyst has put together.”
Mr. Sanders is the founder of the Healthcare Data Warehousing Association, whose members number over 200 healthcare organizations across the world. In addition to data warehousing and information security, his areas of expertise include healthcare revenue cycle optimization; the development and management of electronic medical records; and computerized decision support.
