Billings Clinic and Health Catalyst Honored as Recipients of the 2020 Microsoft Health Innovation Awards
BILLINGS, Mont. and SALT LAKE CITY (May 28, 2020) — Billings Clinic and Health Catalyst, Inc. (“Health Catalyst,” Nasdaq: HCAT), a leading provider of data and analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations, today announced that they have been named joint recipients of Microsoft Corp.’s 2020 Health Innovation Awards.
The awards recognize health organizations and their technology solution partners for using Microsoft’s technology solutions in innovative ways that help enable personalized care, empower care teams, improve operational outcomes, protect health information, and ultimately reimagine healthcare.
“We’re proud to receive this award in partnership with Health Catalyst,” said Tammye Garrett, Director of Enterprise Information Management at Billings Clinic. “Together our efforts have led to improved data literacy and we can now ensure our data is used for continuous improvement.”
Billings Clinic and Health Catalyst won for their use of Health Catalyst’s Data Operating System (DOS™), its cloud-based data platform powered by data from more than 100 million patient records and encompassing trillions of facts. DOS ensures healthcare leaders and clinicians have access to consistent, quality data to help them make better-informed decisions and realize measurable clinical, financial, and operational improvements.
“Billings Clinic is honored to accept the Microsoft Health Innovation Award for our work with Health Catalyst,” said Randy Thompson, Chief Health Analytics Officer at Billings Clinic. “Our partnership with Health Catalyst has provided us with a vast amount of data and has revealed insights that allow us to deliver better care to our patients each day.”
Billings Clinic engaged stakeholders in prioritizing the most valuable data sources to integrate in the data platform. Stakeholders elected to integrate data from six different sources, including claims data from multiple source systems, cost data, financial data, clinical data, and patient satisfaction data. This created one solution for all data needs, eliminating data silos and optimizing analytics use. When combined with the Rapid Response Analytics Solution, a collection of analytics infrastructure components, DOS allows team members to perform basic analytics and access comprehensive data from various source systems in a manner never previously available to them.
“We are honored to receive the Microsoft Health Innovation Award in partnership with Billings Clinic,” said Dan Burton, CEO of Health Catalyst. “Billings is a leader in providing clinical quality and patient safety, and we are proud that our work together enabled transparent, trusted and actionable information to make clinical and financial improvements.”
“During this both challenging and transformational time in the healthcare industry, organizations are using technology to profoundly impact how they deliver care, evolve business operations, and help people,” said Patty Obermaier, Microsoft Vice President of U.S. Health and Life Sciences. “This year’s Microsoft Health Innovation Award recipients are advancing the goals of improved patient engagement and care coordination through their innovative use of Microsoft devices, platforms and cloud and AI services.”
Nominations were submitted by health providers, payers, pharmaceutical and life science organizations, and public and private health institutions across the world for applying Microsoft technology to create transformative and highly-effective innovations. An esteemed panel of industry experts selected this year’s winners based on how their innovations represented a forward-thinking development or implementation of a solution that is delivering groundbreaking results and producing better health outcomes for more people. Recipients will be highlighted on the Microsoft in Health blog at www.Microsoft.com/Health.
